If you have not attended any of these events and activities, you should. They are a big part of what makes Rolla such a great place to live, work and play.


March - St. Pat's Celebration

Location: Rolla
Get your green on! Join us for a century old tradition; a celebration that pays homage to St. Patrick, the patron saint of engineers. St. Pat's in Rolla is a festival of music, games and off the wall activities! The streets are painted green, a royal court is crowned and university students flaunt the creations of homemade wooden shillelaghs; it's a celebration like no other!


March 1st - Opening Day of Trout Season at Maramec Spring Park

Location: 6 miles southeast of St. James
This is the first day of the Catch and Keep Season. The cool stream waters abound with trout stocked by the Missouri Department of Conservation. The St. James Chamber of Commerce serves coffee and doughnuts to early fishermen and some lucky fishermen not only walk away with their limit of trout but maybe a prize too!


June - Route 66 Summerfest

Location: Downtown Rolla
Are you ready to get your kicks on Route 66? The first full weekend in June, the streets of Downtown Rolla come alive with the rumble of classic cars and the sounds of classic oldies. The event kicks off with a convoy of motorcycles and classic cars cruising down Historic Route 66. Summerfest is a 2-day free event that has something for everyone, from car shows to burn out contests, street dance to derby races. The festival also includes a variety of food and craft vendors. So join us in celebrating the legacy of the "Mother Road"!


July - Lion's Club Carnival

Location: Lion's Club Park in Rolla
Carnival games, fireworks, and the best funnel cakes around! Thousands come from every direction to take part in this annual event. During the week of July 4th, members of the Rolla Lion's Club join together to provide food and fun for the whole family as Lion's Club Park is transformed into acres of games, carnival rides and delectable treats - from steak sandwiches to catfish, funnel cakes to fried Oreos. Fireworks, don't forget the fireworks! A beautiful display of colorful sparks fills the night sky as the Rolla Lion's pay tribute to our wonderful country with a firework display set to music; a display that is out of this world!


July - Phelps County Fair

Location: Phelps County Fairground in Rolla
Four days of family fun! Games, carnival rides, music, mud runs, exhibits, bull riding and so much more. The Phelps County Fair provides hours of entertainment for the whole family.


September - Grape & Fall Festival

Location: Nelson Hart Community Park in St. James
A celebration of the annual grape harvest, St. James comes alive with music and entertainment, great food, a wine-tasting garden, crafts, children's activities, and the highlight of the festival, the Grape Stomping Contest. You won't want to miss this wine tasting, grape stoming, juicy good time!


October - Old Iron Works Days at Maramec Spring Park

Location: 6 miles southeast of St. James
At Maramec Spring Park, during the second full weekend in October, thousands gather for an event known as "OLD IRON WORKS DAYS". From blue grass music to games for the kids, craft demonstrations from the 1800's to good ole' country cooking; this two day event is enjoyed by all ages.


October - Downtown Arts & Crafts Festival

Location: Downtown Rolla
As autumn splendor arrives in Rolla so do the talents of area craft vendors. The annual Downtown Arts & Crafts Festival is a daylong event in which the streets of Downtown Rolla are lined with over 75 food and craft booths. Join us for a day of food, fun and shopping!


October - Haunted Mine

Location: Missouri S&T's Experimental Mine
As Halloween approaches, mining engineering students at Missouri University of Science and Technology transform the University's Experimental Underground Mine into hallways of bone chilling, frightening fun. This 12 year tradition has been declared a favorite among visitors. Enter if you dare!


November - City Wide Christmas Open House

Location: Rolla
Get ready for a day of holiday shopping as the Rolla business community joins together to bring sales and savings to Rolla patrons. You won't want to miss out on this shopping extravaganza.


December - Rolla Christmas Parade & Festivities

Location: Downtown Rolla
This annual event began 39 years ago. Spectators line the streets of downtown Rolla to enjoy the performances of local talent; listen to holiday tunes performed by area marching bands and gaze in amazement at the Christmas floats constructed by local organizations. And of course no parade is complete without a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus! Each year children anxiously await the arrival of Santa Claus hoping to catch a glimpse of him in the parade. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have breakfast with him too? The Ozark Actors Theatre hosts an annual breakfast with Santa. Children of all ages (an adults too) are invited to join Santa and Mrs. Claus for this early morning, pre-parade event.
